Line Drive vs Open Collector types for CIMON PLC
2016.01.11

Q. What is the
difference between Line Drive and Open Collector types for
CIMON PLC?

A. Line Drive and Open Collector types become different
according to the input and output signal method of an Encoder.

       [Line Drive]

  • Use
    only 5V.
  • Use
4-wire circuit and is resistant to external noise.
  • Widely
used for AC servo motors due to the use of high frequency band.
  •  Use
+, – balanced signal and is able to do high speed control.
  • Less
restrictions on the wiring distance between amplifier and encoder.

[Open
Collector]

– Use
different voltage from 5 to 24V.

– Input
method is single signal.

– Commonly
used for relatively low-speed stepping motors.
